Glowmade is a small games developer with big ideas. They are passionate about dreaming up digital worlds that inspire a culture of play and creativity among gamers.
Their close-knit team was in need of a joyful new workplace that would do the same for them. A place where inclusivity, exploration and community are the name of the game.
Space
With its exposed ceilings and bare concrete columns, Glowmade’s new space at Crossweys House in the heart of Guildford offered the perfect blank canvas on which to tell their colourful story.
Design
Reimagining acoustics
Acoustic products aren’t just for noise control. In fact, they offer a great opportunity to tell a client’s brand story.
Inspired by Glowmade’s adorable mascot the arteater and the design of their flagship game WonderWorlds, we got creative with acoustic panelling to design this functional and fun feature wall.

Although the client loved the idea, the wall didn’t make it into the finished design
However, throughout the finished space you can see how the idea evolved, as we continued to collaborate with the Glowmade team, into acoustic screens and suspended leaf-shape panels that bring the playful style of WonderWorlds into the office environment.
It also inspired the client’s own design for the awesome abstract feature wall that divides the open plan and breakout areas while bringing a piece of Glowmade’s history into the space.
Cosy vibes
As software developers, the Glowmade team spend a good deal of their time immersing themselves in code.
That takes some serious focus. And a serious amount of coffee.
So, for those moments when staff want to take five from their screens and relax with their favourite caffeine fix, we created a homely living room area where squishy bean bags and quirky hammocks give staff the feeling of being cocooned and protected.
Making the space their own
Glowmade are all about helping people to tap into a childlike sense of imagination.
And what better way to add a reminder of that to the space than with playful photos of the team as kids.
An inexpensive, customisable peg board made the perfect display.
You may not think that an office in Guildford would be the ideal place for a business like Glowmade to imagine and create the beautiful worlds in their games.
But you’d be wrong.
